On Saturday 23rd July and Sunday 24th July - Join us for a Family train adventure on the scenic Mission Bush Branch Line as we celebrate the retirement of the Diesel Trains that saved the Auckland Rail Network!

This family event is brought to you by Auckland Transport, Auckland One Rail, and The Glenbrook Vintage Railway.

BOOK TRAIN TICKETS NOW!

Take advantage of half price Adult Fares and free weekend Child Fares from anywhere on the AT Metro Rail Network by electric train to Papakura where Auckland Transport is hosting a FREE fun family event from 9am until 3pm!
At Papakura there will be entertainment, food stalls, face painters and free rides on Sammy the Steam Train - the miniature train for all ages.

From the event site at Papakura, take a last ride on the Diesel Multiple Unit Train operating between Papakura and Pukekohe before they are withdrawn from services as part of the electrification works. Find out more about the project here: https://at.govt.nz/PukekoheTrains

At Pukekohe, you will be greeted by a heritage train to take you for a train ride along the scenic Mission Bush Branch Line and return - this line is not usually served by passenger trains.

This special heritage train will consist of wood paneled carriages dating from around 1910 and steel clad carriages dating from around 1940 and used until 1993.
Diesel locomotive DBR1254 dating from the 1960s and hauling suburban trains in Auckland until 2014 will haul the heritage train for the return journey.

With that you will have traveled on and experienced over 100 years of Auckland rail history!

The Special Train from Pukekohe to Mission Bush and return must be booked online through the Glenbrook Vintage Railway and includes the journey on the AT Metro Shuttle Train from Papakura to Pukekohe and return!
